Overview
This internship position supports the Applications and Process Engineering division in advancing wastewater treatment technologies tailored for municipal, industrial, and specialized client needs. The role offers practical experience with a variety of treatment methods, including coagulation-flocculation, membrane filtration (UF/NF/RO), advanced oxidation (AOP/Fenton), and zero liquid discharge (ZLD) approaches.
Core Responsibilities
- Conduct wastewater sample characterization such as measuring COD, TSS, pH, TOC, conductivity, and ionic content.
- Assist in bench-scale and pilot-scale testing involving coagulation, oxidation, adsorption, and membrane filtration processes.
- Gather, analyze, and interpret treatment performance data to assess efficacy.
- Create process flow diagrams, mass balance computations, and initial process designs.
- Compile technical documentation, including lab reports, test summaries, and client proposal inputs.
- Maintain detailed laboratory records including experimental logs, reagent stock, and sample tracking.
- Operate analytical lab equipment such as TOC analyzers, ion chromatographs, and pH meters.
- Support sample preparation for advanced analytical techniques like LC-MS/MS and ICP-OES, when applicable.
Candidate Profile
- Academic background in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
- Familiarity with mass transport phenomena, membrane separation processes, and both inorganic and organic chemistry principles is advantageous.
- Experience or knowledge of water chemistry and water quality testing is a benefit.
- Ability to multitask effectively and adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic working environment.
- Strong skills in communication and presentation.
- Self-motivated, curious, and enthusiastic about continuous learning.
- Genuine interest in topics related to water and wastewater treatment.
- Capability to operate efficiently with limited supervision.
