About the Role
We are looking for a knowledgeable Safety Engineer to manage Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance for extensive industrial, warehouse, logistics, and commercial building projects located in Abu Dhabi. The chosen candidate will be entrusted with enforcing compliance with OSHAD, UAE-specific HSE regulations, client-mandated safety standards, and global best safety practices. A key aspect of the job is fostering a culture of safety awareness and proactive risk management across all phases of the projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement project-specific HSE plans, policies, and procedures aligning with UAE laws and client requirements.
- Conduct systematic safety inspections, audits, and hazard evaluations throughout project sites.
- Create and assess Risk Assessments (RA), Job Safety Analyses (JSA), Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS/MS), and other essential HSE documentation.
- Oversee the Permit-to-Work system, managing permits for hot work, confined spaces, excavations, electrical isolation, and lifting tasks.
- Ensure the secure execution of all high-risk operations including lifting, working at heights, steel structure assembly, scaffolding, excavation, and handling heavy machinery.
- Facilitate site safety inductions, toolbox discussions, awareness drives, and conduct HSE training programs.
- Supervise adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols, housekeeping standards, and safe operational procedures.
- Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, accidents, and unsafe behaviors; prepare thorough investigation reports recommending corrective and preventative measures.
- Manage emergency response plans including drills, evacuation readiness, and first aid provisions.
- Ensure ongoing adherence to OSHAD standards, Abu Dhabi HSE regulations, project-specific safety plans, and client-imposed safety directives.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Site Engineers, subcontractors, consultants, and client safety teams to address safety concerns.
- Compile and submit detailed HSE reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis including statistics and compliance records.
- Assist in internal and external HSE audits ensuring timely response to findings and non-conformances.
- Advance a proactive safety culture through persistent monitoring and effective employee engagement strategies.
