Role Overview

This opportunity is offered on behalf of a partner company seeking an experienced SQL Developer located in the United Kingdom. The role involves implementing and supporting data-centric reporting solutions across various client environments. It demands technical prowess in SQL, database management, and business intelligence, coupled with excellent communication abilities to comprehend and address client requirements effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate directly with clients, managers, and relevant stakeholders to capture reporting needs and translate them into technical specifications.
Design and develop SQL-based solutions and configure reports aligned to business requirements.
Remotely access client setups to install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot reporting software.
Conduct thorough investigations of client systems to identify pertinent data sources spanning multiple platforms.
Extract, analyze, and interpret data from various databases and business applications to support reporting.
Review and understand existing database architectures, relationships, and workflows to guide implementations.
Create and maintain SQL database objects including views, stored procedures, functions, and tables.
Implement database patches, updates, and optimize SQL Server environments for performance improvements.
Troubleshoot and resolve database connectivity and networking issues.
Operate within Windows Server environments and coordinate with clients' IT teams as needed.
Conduct training sessions and provide guidance to users facilitating smooth adoption of reporting solutions.
Take end-to-end ownership of projects, from initial setup through post-implementation support.

Candidate Requirements

Proven experience with Microsoft SQL Server and advanced SQL querying skills including joins, aggregations, and subqueries.
Proficient in developing and managing SQL views, stored procedures, functions, and other database objects.
Strong understanding of relational database theories and data structures.
Experience working in Windows Server environments.
Knowledge of basic networking concepts such as permissions, ports, firewalls, and DNS.
Expertise in remote client infrastructure access and support.
Ability to diagnose and solve complex technical issues pragmatically.
Excellent communication skills for interacting effectively with both technical personnel and business stakeholders.
Capable of working independently, prioritizing tasks and owning project delivery.
Highly organized, detail-focused, self-driven with systematic troubleshooting approach.

Preferred Additional Skills

Understanding of bookkeeping and financial principles including nominal ledgers and balance sheets.
Experience interfacing with financial accounting or ERP systems.
Familiarity deploying or supporting applications using IIS.
Knowledge of APIs, application integration, and JSON data environments.
Exposure to other SQL dialects like MySQL or PostgreSQL.
Experience working with additional database management systems and basics of C# development.
