Steward - General Utility Worker

Job Overview

Join Aramark Canada in Ottawa as a Steward, contributing to high standards of cleanliness and safety in food service environments. As a General Utility Worker, your responsibilities will include maintaining the hygiene of dishes, equipment, and workspaces, supporting daily operations, and interacting with management and team members to ensure smooth service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to all Aramark and client policies concerning safety, security, and emergency procedures.
• Follow established cleaning schedules and function sheets for kitchen setups and banquet services.
• Carry out tasks assigned by the Lead Steward and Captain, coordinating with management to meet operational needs.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of utensils, tableware, worktables, storage areas, and kitchen equipment.
• Perform routine and deep cleaning of equipment and areas to ensure hygiene standards.
• Safely collect cooking utensils and manage soiled laundry according to protocol.
• Dispose of waste correctly and transport food and equipment as needed.
• Identify and report equipment malfunctions to supervisors promptly.
• Develop and apply sanitation procedures and checklists within kitchen areas.
• Complete tasks efficiently and in a safe manner, including working irregular hours such as nights and weekends.
• Comply with collective agreements and other company guidelines.

Qualifications & Physical Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a relevant role with demonstrated knowledge of sanitation and HACCP principles.
• Familiarity with inventory control systems and kitchen safety protocols.
• Physical ability to frequently move around large facilities, handle kitchen equipment, lift up to 50 lbs regularly, and endure temperature variations and extended periods of standing or walking.
• Use of uniforms and personal protective equipment is required.
