Work Location and Position Overview
This role is based in San Luis Obispo, CA and is classified as an exempt position. The anticipated annual salary falls between $129,700 and $160,500, subject to candidate qualifications, experience, and location.
About the Role
Redwire is looking for a Supply Chain Manager to oversee daily supply chain operations at their Huntsville, AL site, aimed at supporting defense and aerospace projects. The manager will lead procurement, materials management, supplier relations, and logistics teams. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Supply Chain, this role includes overseeing compliance with procurement regulations and driving the company’s purchasing system certification.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily supply chain functions including procurement, materials, logistics, and supplier management.
- Lead and mentor the procurement team, setting priorities and balancing workloads aligned with program deadlines.
- Implement global supply chain policies while contributing to their ongoing improvement.
- Ensure all purchases meet FAR, DFARS, and contractual guidelines, maintaining full audit-ready records.
- Conduct price and cost analyses, and handle justifications for purchases of varying complexity.
- Manage supplier contracts, including FAR and DFARS clause incorporation and supplier acknowledgments.
- Enforce compliance with counterfeit prevention, Berry Amendment, specialty metals restrictions, and domestic sourcing rules.
- Negotiate with suppliers to achieve cost savings, avoid expenses, and reduce lead times.
- Monitor supplier performance in delivery, quality, and cost metrics, driving corrective actions when needed.
- Identify and address risks such as sole-source dependencies, obsolescence, and foreign sourcing vulnerabilities.
- Facilitate supplier onboarding, qualification, and periodic assessments per company standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as engineering, manufacturing, quality, program management, and finance to synchronize procurement with program goals.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) including supplier performance and inventory efficiency.
- Support demand planning, maintain ERP data integrity, and promote process improvements through automation.
- Keep updated on regulatory changes, industry trends, and supply chain best practices in the defense sector.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field; relevant professional certifications are advantageous.
- Over 7 years of progressively responsible procurement or supply chain experience in aerospace and defense, including U.S. Government contract purchasing.
- Comprehensive knowledge of FAR and DFARS regulations with proven compliant purchasing execution.
- Proven ability to perform price/cost analyses, prepare source justifications, and maintain procurement documentation; experience with actions exceeding TINA thresholds preferred.
- Experience with purchasing system certifications (CPSR) and government audit processes is a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership skills including team mentoring and cross-functional initiative leadership; direct supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong negotiation capabilities and supplier relationship management, delivering cost savings and managing complex contracts.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent program subcontracts or supplier agreements.
- Proficient in ERP systems such as Odoo, SAP, or Oracle, leveraging data for decision-making and continuous process enhancement.
- Familiarity with ITAR and EAR regulatory requirements and managing procurement in export-controlled environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders including executives.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines.
- Desirable experience with UAS/UAV products, lean manufacturing, or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and leadership growth.
Additional Information
Clearance Requirements: This position may require compliance with ITAR and EAR regulations. Candidates will be required to verify US person status accordingly.
Work Environment and Physical Demands: The role involves a mix of office and production floor settings requiring use of standard equipment, stamina for sitting or standing with interruptions, occasional physical activities like walking, climbing, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Safety gear such as glasses, shoes, and coats may be necessary. Travel by air or car may also be required.
