Position Overview
This role is based within the Storage Operations Team, part of Global Systems Support. The Systems Analyst/Storage Engineer will maintain and certify storage and backup infrastructures, offering Level 2 support for existing systems. The position requires collaboration with Systems, Database, Engineering, Asset Management, Product Development, Operations, Audit, Risk, and other Technology departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide effective support and management of storage systems to ensure continuous operation of Visa's products.
- Act as a technical escalation point for storage and backup infrastructure issues.
- Document and certify storage and backup hardware and processes.
- Use monitoring tools for SAN, NAS, and backup operations, perform alerting and remediation.
- Create technical designs and build documentation covering the entire storage and backup stack.
- Engage in troubleshooting and root cause analysis across storage components including hosts, virtual machines, SAN switches, and recovery services.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 4 years’ hands-on experience in storage support or administration within complex and large enterprise data center settings.
- Proficiency with EMC, Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), and IBM midrange storage arrays.
- Experience managing Brocade and/or Cisco SAN switches and routers.
- Hands-on usage of Isilon and/or NetApp NAS storage solutions.
- Good understanding of backup technologies including Virtual Tape Libraries (VTL).
- Practical knowledge of backup software like Symantec NetBackup and EMC Data Domain.
- Familiarity with UNIX variants (Linux, AIX, Solaris), VMware, hypervisors and Windows operating environments.
- Competency with storage configuration, volume and path management software tools, such as LVM, Native MPIO, EMC PowerPath, and HDS HDLM.
- Knowledge of disaster recovery techniques related to storage, including disk replication and snapshots.
- Capability to script and automate tasks in both Windows and UNIX platforms.
Desired Skills and Preferences
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible and Python scripting.
- Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and relevant storage certifications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to self-learn new storage technologies and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong commitment to quality and customer service standards.
- Willingness to work onsite at least three days per week as required by the Hiring Manager.
Educational Requirements
Preference will be given to candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
