Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our Buildings project team in Accra, Ghana. This role is crucial in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring all accounting operations comply with relevant standards and regulations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Record and manage accounts payable and receivable invoices accurately.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure precise bookkeeping practices.
• Process daily accounting transactions and perform journal entries.
• Conduct bank reconciliations and verify account balances.
• Monitor and track incoming and outgoing payments effectively.
• Prepare VAT returns and assist with tax compliance activities.
• Handle customer and supplier account management.
• Contribute to month-end and year-end financial closing processes.
• Generate financial and accounting reports for management review.
• Maintain detailed and accurate accounting documentation.
• Support external auditors and tax consultants during audits.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and local tax laws.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ professional experience in accounting or finance roles.
• Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
• Sound understanding of local tax regulations and statutory compliance requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience using accounting software such as SAP, Sage, Oracle, or equivalent ERP systems.
