Adjunct Faculty – Visual Arts

Overview

The Carroll Community College Foundation is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach Visual Arts courses, specifically Art Appreciation and Art of the Western World, on campus for the Spring and Fall 2026 semesters. This role primarily involves instructional duties, including teaching, student assessment, and engaging in professional growth activities, within the Arts & Humanities Department.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver a maximum teaching load equivalent to 24 hours annually as per the Affordable Care Act measurement period.
• Conduct scheduled face-to-face classes on campus.
• Develop and assign coursework to evaluate student learning effectively.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments, typically within two weeks.
• Respond to all student communications within two business days.
• Maintain course materials including syllabus, faculty information, announcements for Preview Week, and grade records using the Learning Management System.
• Offer regular office hours to support student needs.
• Guide students to appropriate academic and support resources.
• Participate actively in initiatives aimed at student retention and successful program completion.
• Engage in outcomes assessment and utilize data for program improvement.
• Collaborate with student support staff and related professionals.
• Submit grades accurately and manage incomplete grades as required.
• Attend required departmental meetings and complete mandatory training sessions.
• Demonstrate adaptability to new challenges and institutional demands.
• Comply with all policies outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Master’s degree in studio art or art history is mandatory.
• Prior college-level teaching experience is preferred but not required.
• Competence in using educational technology to facilitate learning.
• Positive, cooperative, and supportive attitude essential for collaborative work.

Physical and Work Environment

• Work involves primarily sedentary tasks with occasional requirement to lift or move objects up to 10 pounds.
• Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, possess visual acuity, mental focus, and handle repetitive motions such as keyboarding.
• Mobility to stand, sit, walk, and navigate campus locations is necessary.
• Work is conducted on campus involving interaction with students, faculty, staff, and the public in various settings including classrooms and offices.
• Standard office safety practices and compliance with college policies are required.
