Ambulance Driver

Role Overview

We are seeking a responsible Ambulance Driver to join our team in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The candidate will be entrusted with safely driving the ambulance for both emergency responses and scheduled patient transfers. This role demands timely arrival at emergency locations and courteous support to patients and medical personnel throughout the journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive the ambulance safely for emergency and planned patient transportation assignments.
• Promptly respond to emergency dispatch instructions and reach assigned destinations within required time frames.
• Assist in safely moving patients into and out of the ambulance, including handling stretchers and wheelchairs as necessary.
• Collaborate and support medical staff such as paramedics, nurses, or attendants during patient transit.
• Ensure the comfort and safety of patients during travel.
• Adhere strictly to traffic laws when utilizing emergency signals like sirens and lights.
• Conduct thorough daily inspections of the vehicle, including brakes, tires, lights, engine fluids, battery, oxygen cylinders, and all emergency equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards inside and outside the ambulance.
• Keep ambulance stocked with essential medical supplies and communicate shortages to appropriate personnel.
• Record detailed logs covering trips, mileage, fuel use, maintenance, and patient transportation.
• Immediately report any vehicle faults, accidents, or mechanical problems to the Transport Supervisor.
• Coordinate smoothly with dispatch teams, hospital employees, and emergency responders.
• Follow hospital policies, road safety rules, infection control guidelines, and safeguards on patient privacy.
• Refuel and prepare the ambulance to ensure readiness for immediate deployment.
• Treat patients and their companions with professionalism and respect.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license suitable for ambulance operation and safe driving experience.
• Ability to navigate roads under emergency conditions responsibly.
• Physical capability to assist patients in transfers.
• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance basics to conduct daily checks.
• Strong coordination and communication with medical and dispatch staff.
• Understanding of hygiene, patient confidentiality, and compliance protocols.

Compensation

The position offers a monthly remuneration between 20,000 to 25,000 INR.
