Job Overview

This role involves maintaining cleanliness and hygiene across school facilities and assisting in school bus supervision with nurturing care. The position requires attention to detail, conscientiousness, and teamwork within a school environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing floors.
• Dust and wipe surfaces, furniture, windowsills, and fixtures thoroughly.
• Empty waste bins, sanitize them, and replace liners regularly.
• Maintain restrooms by cleaning and disinfecting toilets, sinks, and fixtures; replenish supplies like toilet paper, soap, and towels to ensure hygienic, odor-free facilities.
• Disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as door handles, light switches, and handrails to prevent germ transmission.
• Carry out scheduled deep cleaning activities including carpet cleaning, window washing, and floor stripping and waxing.
• Respond promptly and safely to spills and accidents as they occur.
• Operate cleaning equipment properly, reporting any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
• Monitor and restock cleaning materials to maintain supply availability.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines regarding cleaning chemicals and hazardous materials, including use of personal protective equipment.
• Keep storage areas organized and report any maintenance issues like leaks or broken fixtures to supervisors.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues and follow direction from supervisors or daily task lists.

Skills and Competencies

• Meticulous attention to detail to ensure no area is overlooked in cleaning duties.
• Effective time management to complete cleaning within designated time frames, including breaks and after-school hours.
• Knowledgeable in cleaning methods appropriate for various surfaces and floors, and handling accidental spills correctly.
• Proficiency in using cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, and mops safely.
• Awareness of health and safety standards related to chemical handling and storage.
• Dependability with consistent attendance and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe environment.
• Ability to work well in teams and communicate any concerns or issues promptly.

Qualifications and Experience

• No formal educational qualifications required, although basic literacy and numeracy skills are beneficial.
• Preference given to candidates with prior cleaning or janitorial experience, especially within educational or childcare settings.
