Key Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical designs for traction and auxiliary converters used in locomotives, EMUs, and metro systems.
- Create mechanical enclosures suitable for onboard, underslung, and roof-mounted installations.
- Design metal constructions using welding, riveting, and adhesive bonding techniques.
- Apply expertise in air-cooled and water-cooled systems at module and converter levels.
- Engineer airflow ducts and water circuits aligned with customer specifications.
- Design heatsinks, cooling plates, molded parts, low-inductive busbars, and insulation components.
- Ensure compliance with IEC, EN, and IS standards concerning design, validation, testing, and product safety.
- Utilize computational validation tools such as FEA and CFD.
- Interpret electrical circuit diagrams and translate them into 3D mechanical layouts of electrical components.
- Design components considering manufacturability and testability standards such as DTC and DFM.
- Incorporate knowledge of weld design, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and problem-solving methodologies including A3, 8D, and fishbone analysis.
- Collaborate with electrical and site teams for effective system integration.
- Prepare detailed design documentation, manufacturing drawings, and norms.
- Support prototype fabrication and testing phases.
- Engage in design reviews and assist in technical discussions with customers.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proficient in Siemens NX, Teamcenter, Hypermesh, Ansys/NX Nastran, AutoCAD, SAP.
- Skilled in conceptualizing, designing, validating, and introducing new designs for traction and auxiliary converters per client requirements.
- Experience designing converter cabinets and components for traction applications, including defining test specifications.
- Knowledgeable about selecting catalog components such as insulators, heatsinks, mechanical accessories, sealants, and fasteners.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and capability to design accordingly.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
- Effective communication skills with a collaborative team-oriented mindset.

This role is based in Nashik/Pune, Maharashtra, India, with potential travel to other locations domestically and internationally.
