Role Overview
Genser Energy Ghana Limited is seeking a Contracts Associate to join their Legal department at the Corporate Office in Takoradi, Western Region, Ghana. Reporting to the Senior Contracts Associate, this role involves supporting the drafting, reviewing, and administration of contracts linked to the procurement of goods and services to ensure compliance and efficient contract management.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist throughout the contract lifecycle, including drafting, reviewing, and preparing contract terms for procurement-related agreements under senior supervision.
- Support management of relationships with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure contracts meet performance and compliance standards.
- Participate in vendor negotiations to obtain beneficial terms and minimize risks, guided by senior legal personnel.
- Ensure all contracts adhere to applicable legal, regulatory, company, and industry requirements, escalating compliance concerns where necessary.
- Maintain detailed and organized records of contracts including executed agreements, amendments, and correspondence.
- Keep contract documentation updated, accurate, and easily retrievable via organized filing systems and databases.
- Assist in identifying and assessing contractual risks and help implement mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with procurement, legal, finance, and operations teams to align contract provisions with business goals and operational needs.
- Contribute to the enhancement of contract management processes to increase efficiency and streamline workflows.
- Execute assigned projects adhering to agreed timelines and budgets.
- Participate in personal development reviews and support team members during leave periods.
Qualifications and Experience
- Mandatory bachelor's degree in Law or related discipline; master's degree in Business beneficial.
- Experience working in multicultural settings is advantageous.
- French language proficiency is considered an asset.
- At least 3 years of experience managing procurement contracts, ideally within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Fundamental understanding of oil and gas terminal and shipyard operations.
- Exceptional attention to detail in contract review and drafting.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with supply chain management systems such as Sage X3, SAP, or Oracle.
