Data Modeller with ERwin Expertise

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Data Modellers to join our team in Bangalore at HCLTech, a leading global technology company with a diverse portfolio spanning digital, engineering, cloud, and AI services. This role involves designing and maintaining data models that support business needs across multiple domains.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine logical and physical data models tailored to evolving business requirements.
• Translate complex legacy SQL queries into streamlined dimensional models fit for cloud platforms.
• Collaborate closely with Analytics Engineers to detail and document data elements within semantic layers.
• Manage data contracts by updating metadata files to include ownership, schema definitions, and test rules.
• Maintain comprehensive data lineage mapping from source systems through to reporting dashboards.
• Incorporate standard data quality verifications such as null checks and unique constraints into models.
• Promote best practices for data modelling and cloud migration aligned with company standards.

Required Skills and Experience

• 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in data modelling, with expertise in relational and Kimball dimensional modeling techniques.
• Strong command of SQL, including reading, optimizing, and reverse engineering complex queries.
• Experience working with cloud data platforms like Snowflake; knowledge of AWS S3/Lakehouses and Apache Iceberg is advantageous.
• Proficiency in tools such as Erwin, Hackolade, or dbt for data modelling tasks.
• Familiarity with version control systems, especially Git.

Educational Qualifications and Attributes

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Excellent analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills and thorough documentation ability.
• A proactive, cooperative approach and eagerness to grow within the role.
