Role Overview
The Depot Workshop Equipment Supervisor plays a critical role in supporting the Depot Workshop Equipment (DWE) Manager to ensure that workload prioritization aligns with both operational demands and safety requirements. This role involves overseeing maintenance teams to resolve complex technical issues and guaranteeing that asset maintenance meets established quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee asset maintenance and strategy, including predictive and condition-based maintenance specific to DWE systems.
- Plan and carry out maintenance and repair activities according to work schedules and technical manuals.
- Ensure all maintenance activities uphold quality standards.
- Assist in recruiting, training, and evaluating team members, supporting ongoing personnel development.
- Collaborate with the DWE manager and technical leadership to perform Root Cause Analysis and incident reporting for equipment faults and failures.
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and approving maintenance documentation, design drawings, and other technical documents.
- Lead or supervise complex maintenance tasks executed by internal teams or subcontractors.
- Promote and enforce safety standards and proper tool usage; organize and communicate safety briefings and toolbox talks to supervisors.
- Support troubleshooting efforts, ensuring maintenance teams follow best practices documented in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Review change management processes to ensure operational continuity and safety.
- Act as deputy for the DWE manager or Head of Transit Systems as needed, assisting with assigned duties.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum Technical Diploma required; Engineering degree preferred.
- Desirable Lean or Six Sigma certification.
- At least 5 years of industry experience in rail, aviation, or transportation sectors.
- Minimum 3 years in a supervisory position.
- Proficiency in creating Bills of Materials, managing procurement processes, competitive tendering, and providing technical clarifications.
- Skilled in Root Cause Analysis and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis.
- Strong interpersonal abilities to build relationships and influence across organizational levels.
- Experience contributing technical insights to senior management teams.
- Competence in failure prediction and lifecycle extension strategies for assets.
