Gas Mainlayer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Gas Mainlayer to join our collaborative team working on projects throughout the Waterford, Tipperary, and Wexford regions. This role offers the chance to expand your skills while contributing to vital infrastructure development.

Main Responsibilities

• Perform excavation tasks and lay gas mains and services in accordance with the Operational Procedures Manual (OPM) up to 400 mm diameter.
• Execute Non-Routine Operations (NROs), ensuring proper adherence to protocols.
• Maintain safety standards on-site for yourself and all personnel entering your work area.
• Effectively manage your workload and complete required documentation using a Handheld Device.
• Participate in on-call rotations including availability during and outside regular hours.
• Comply fully with all GMC policies, procedures, and audit requirements from GNI, GMC, and external auditors.
• Establish and uphold a safe and professional work site environment at all times.
• Meet assigned targets and regularly monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) aligned with job duties.
• Complete weekly inspections of plant and vehicle equipment.
• Be flexible regarding work locations as directed by management.

Candidate Requirements

• Possession of GDF2 qualification or equivalent, with all GNI assessments successfully completed.
• Valid Location of Underground Services Ticket and a 3-day SLG ticket permitting erection of traffic management plans.
• Holds a full clean driving license (EC1 category preferred).
• Strong ability to identify risks and conduct daily/site-specific risk assessments.
• In-depth knowledge of the GNI Operational Procedures Manual.
• Minimum of three years’ experience as a Gas Mainlayer, Utility Mainlayer, or similar role within civil utilities.
• Certification in excavation and shoring procedures.
• Completed GNI leak management training.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and a willingness to join an on-call duty rotation.
