Role Overview

The HSE Construction Officer position is a full-time, on-site role based in Abu Dhabi. The key responsibility is to implement and oversee health, safety, and environmental protocols on construction sites. Duties include performing frequent site inspections, identifying potential risks, ensuring adherence to local laws, company policies, and international HSE standards. The role involves conducting safety inductions and toolbox talks, maintaining incident and inspection records, and supporting the investigation of accidents and near-misses.

The officer collaborates with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to foster a culture of safety, verifies proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and manages emergency response preparedness. Participation in risk assessments, reviewing method statements, and recommending corrective and preventive measures to enhance workplace safety are also key functions.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in HSE, specifically within construction site safety
• Knowledge of Environment Health and Safety (EHS) including environmental compliance and safe working practices
• Understanding of Occupational Health aspects, such as hazard recognition and employee welfare programs
• Possession of NEBOSH or equivalent HSE certification with competence in risk assessment and safety management systems
• Preferred diploma or degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or related disciplines
• Experience in large-scale or government infrastructure projects is advantageous
• Excellent communication and reporting abilities, capable of training and influencing site personnel on safety matters
• Able to interpret HSE regulations effectively and respond suitably in emergencies
• Candidates must currently reside in the UAE and hold a valid driving license
