Role Overview

An opening is available for an Imaging Assistant based at University Hospital Crosshouse and University Hospital Ayr. The position begins at Band 2, with progression to Band 3 upon completion of the Imaging Assistant Competency Framework and Health Care Support Workers Mandatory Induction Standards. Hours of work are 36 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Radiologists and Radiographers in supporting patient care and various imaging-related tasks.
• Participate actively in departmental audits and contribute to maintaining and enhancing imaging standards.
• Engage in continuous professional development as encouraged by the department.
• Monitor patients and, after receiving appropriate training, perform intravenous cannulation.
• Provide compassionate care to patients, including those who are seriously ill.
• Carry out mentally and physically demanding duties within the imaging department.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Possession of an SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or an equivalent qualification.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
• Proficiency in computer use to handle administrative duties integral to the job.
• Experience in a caring role is crucial, with a background in x-ray environments considered advantageous.
• Flexibility to respond to the varied demands of the Medical Imaging Department, including participating in 24/7 service provision with out-of-hours and weekend shifts on a roster basis.
• Awareness and adherence to health and safety regulations.
• A valid full UK/EU/EEA driving license since travel between NHS Ayrshire & Arran sites is required.
