Job Overview
As a Mechanical Designer at Philips, you will oversee the entire lifecycle management of our Image Guided Therapy (IGT) systems. Your key responsibility includes maintaining, validating, and verifying complex mechanical components and subsystems to ensure our medical imaging products perform safely, reliably, and comply with international standards throughout their lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute multidisciplinary analysis and design initiatives aimed at enhancing system performance, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
- Manage complex mechanical solutions in large-scale projects, often segmented into multiple sub-projects creating various subsystems.
- Contribute throughout new product introduction and product lifecycle projects by developing requirements, integral designs, implementation, testing, and integration aligned with higher-level specifications and coordinated with internal and external stakeholders, including operations and procurement teams.
- Ensure comprehensive design documentation including design calculations, FMEA, field data analysis, and verification reports.
- Maintain modular, easy-to-maintain unit integration that fulfills product specifications.
- Participate in sourcing strategies involving make-or-buy decisions, supplier selection, and contract management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Biomechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in mechanical design.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software, preferably Creo (pro/ENGINEER).
- Strong understanding of mechatronics concepts.
- Robust knowledge of design controls and risk management standards.
- Broad technical expertise in launching medical products to market.
- Experience with regulatory requirements, especially medical device regulations such as ISO 13485 and FDA standards.
- Ability to translate customer needs into technical requirements and develop mechatronic solutions.
- Experience working collaboratively in design teams.
- Excellent communication skills including professional-level written and spoken English.
Work Environment
This is a full-time onsite position located at the Pune Division, Maharashtra. Philips supports collaborative teamwork and encourages office presence at least three days a week. Field roles typically occur outside company locations, but this role is office-based requiring full-time presence at company facilities.
