Operational Support Grade (Prison Support)

Role overview

HMP Guys Marsh is looking for an Operational Support Grade to help with the smooth, safe day-to-day running of the prison. This is an active and varied position where you will support the wider team with both desk-based and hands-on work.

What the role involves

You will assist with security checks and searches at the gate, handle incoming deliveries, oversee visitors, and monitor phone activity and CCTV. The work also includes practical duties such as lifting, carrying, and walking across the prison site to escort vehicles.

Shift pattern

This position involves varied shifts, including nights and weekends, to ensure continuous operational support.

Working as an OSG can give you a solid understanding of how a prison operates and may open the door to other prison roles, including the chance to apply for the OSG to Prison Officer conversion scheme.

Training and benefits
