Job overview

This position supports the smooth movement of cargo by helping operate and maintain a range of machinery and equipment used in port and terminal activities. The role is focused on keeping loading and unloading work efficient and safe across the terminal.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out safety inspections before and after operations on different port and terminal equipment used for loading and unloading cargo from ships, barges, rail, and trucks.
• Run a variety of terminal machines and equipment in an effective manner so cargo handling continues without unnecessary delays.
• Check the condition of equipment such as ITV units, forklifts, reach stackers, RTGs, and Bobcats, identify faults, and work with maintenance teams to arrange repairs or improvements.
• Stay in regular radio contact with all colleagues involved in cargo loading and discharge activities.
• Keep complete and accurate records related to equipment usage, operation, and maintenance work.
• Follow quality requirements, safety rules, and other industry standards in all port and terminal operations.

Qualifications and experience

• A high school certificate is required; a diploma will be considered an advantage.
• A valid UAE heavy machinery license is mandatory.
• Technical training or certification related to port operations is a benefit.
• Applicants should have 2 to 4 years of experience in a similar position.
• Prior experience operating port machinery and equipment in the ports sector is needed.
• Strong mechanical understanding and technical aptitude are important for this role.
• Ability to lead, train, and mentor others is valued.
• Good knowledge of port safety requirements is essential.
• The role suits someone who works well in a collaborative environment and can coordinate effectively with people across different functions and levels.
• Excellent English is required; Arabic is an added advantage.
