Role Overview

The Principal Data Analyst will act as a strategic collaborator with the leadership of Long Term Care Claims Operations. This role involves transforming diverse, complex datasets into insightful information that supports strategic decision-making and operational enhancements. The analyst will independently lead the creation of scalable dashboards, forecast trends, aid in capacity planning, and pinpoint ways to boost operational effectiveness. Emphasizing data storytelling, advanced analytics, and proactive problem resolution, this position offers a chance to influence organizational strategy through innovative analytics and data-based insights.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior analytical guidance to Long Term Care Claims, Customer Service, and Workforce Management teams.
• Create and sustain scalable Power BI dashboards, reports, and datasets, conforming to company-wide standards.
• Implement best practices in data modeling, DAX, security, and governance within Power BI environments.
• Develop sophisticated SQL queries to extract and analyze large datasets.
• Translate unclear business inquiries into structured analytical questions and metrics.
• Deliver diagnostic and predictive insights, including forecasting and scenario-based planning.
• Detect emergent trends, risks, and opportunities affecting operations and finances.
• Ensure data integrity by validating and reconciling data sources.
• Collaborate with data engineering and governance teams to resolve data quality issues and uphold standards.
• Coach junior analysts and encourage data literacy throughout teams.
• Work cross-functionally with stakeholders to ensure analytics align with business objectives.
• Support interdisciplinary projects by offering data-driven insights and recommendations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Data Science, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• More than six years of progressive experience in data analytics or related fields.
• Expert-level proficiency with SQL (Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or similar), including performance tuning.
• Advanced skills in Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, dashboard creation, and storytelling.
• Solid experience manipulating large, structured datasets with SQL, Excel, and Python.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills capable of simplifying complex data into clear insights.
• Proven ability to effectively communicate findings to senior and executive leadership.
• Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and influence cross-functional teams.
• A strong curiosity and passion for using data to drive strategic business change.
