Procurement Manager

Overview

Babcock is looking for a proactive Procurement Manager who can transform strategic plans into practical actions, ensuring projects are executed with strong commercial acumen, operational effectiveness, and stringent governance. Role Responsibilities

In this position, you will lead the implementation of Babcock's sourcing strategies, contracts, and supplier management efforts to facilitate successful project delivery. Your duties encompass the entire procurement lifecycle, including market research, supplier selection, negotiation, contract execution, renewal, and close-out, ensuring alignment with project schedules, financial goals, and regulatory compliance. You will monitor supplier performance and maintain enduring partnerships by instituting management frameworks that encourage accountability, ongoing improvement, and excellence. Additionally, you will oversee supplier quality assurance programs to meet safety standards, regulatory requirements, and project-specific criteria. Financial oversight will include managing liabilities, pricing agreements, invoicing discrepancies, and ensuring transparency and value for money.

Collaboration with Operations, Commercial, and Program Delivery teams is crucial to integrate procurement strategies seamlessly with project and organizational policies. You will enhance procurement processes, tools, and templates to standardize and streamline contract execution across the organization. Identifying and managing risks related to commercial, operational, and safety factors in supplier engagements will be a key focus, ensuring adherence to Australasian legal frameworks, internal governance policies, and industry standards.

As a leader, you will guide and develop a team of procurement professionals by providing coaching, performance evaluations, and growth opportunities. You will handle performance challenges, recruitment, onboarding, and employee lifecycle activities. Leading initiatives to improve sourcing, contracting, and supplier management processes and delivering data-driven reports to inform leadership decisions and continuous development will also be part of your role.

Candidate Profile

The successful applicant will be a skilled procurement expert experienced in managing end-to-end sourcing within complex or project-driven environments. A thorough understanding of market analysis, supplier evaluation, negotiation, and contract management is essential, along with a track record of delivering financially sound outcomes that support both project execution and organizational strategy. Experience with supplier performance frameworks, resolution of delivery and compliance issues, and driving supplier improvements is required.

The role demands proficiency in identifying and managing commercial and contractual risks and a strong grasp of legal and regulatory compliance within procurement activities. Candidates should have relevant qualifications in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Finance, Commerce, Law, or comparable experience reflecting equivalent competence. Membership in professional bodies like the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply or the Australian Supply Chain Institute is advantageous.

Strong leadership, clear communication, relationship-building skills, and a problem-solving approach are essential.
