About the Role

Join a stealth-stage startup based in NYC focused on revolutionizing a vast industry traditionally reliant on paper and manual processes. Our innovative software leverages AI and computer vision to drastically reduce paperwork time and accelerate payment cycles. As one of our early hires, you'll help shape a product that directly serves the workforce in this multi-hundred-billion-dollar sector.

Responsibilities

Deliver end-to-end product design, engaging deeply with both design tools like Figma and the codebase to ensure rapid feature delivery.
Collaborate closely with AI and computer vision teams to create intuitive interfaces that simplify user experiences for those unfamiliar with such technology.
Engage regularly with actual users onsite, on calls, and in person to gather feedback that directly informs product evolution.
Rapidly prototype concepts, iterating quickly and discarding work that does not meet the mark.
Design with a strong awareness of engineering constraints, balancing aesthetics and feasibility to encourage seamless implementation.
Establish design systems, patterns, and consistency while maintaining agility in a fast-moving environment.

Candidate Profile

A hands-on creator with backgrounds in design or engineering, emphasizing output over titles.
Experienced with AI-driven, camera-first, or conversational interface design, central to this product.
User-focused, always questioning usability for non-technical, typical end users.
Holds strong but adaptable opinions on UX/UI, willing to pivot based on evidence.
Thrives in ambiguous settings, taking ownership without rigid processes.
Resourceful and pragmatic, prioritizing timely shipping over perfection.
Located in or ready to relocate to NYC and committed to working in-person, including user interactions outside the office.

Qualifications

Proven experience in comprehensive product design, from discovery through launch for digital products.
Skilled in design thinking methodologies such as problem framing, ideation, and iterative prototyping in collaborative environments.
Competent in user and UX research practices, including planning and conducting user studies and translating findings into design improvements.
Strong visual design capabilities, adept with tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD, focusing on layout, typography, color, and system design.
Experience in technology, fintech, real estate, PropTech, ClimateTech, or related industries is a plus.
Excellent communication skills for articulating design decisions and collaborating remotely while managing multiple projects swiftly.
Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, Interaction Design, or equivalent practical experience.
