About Wispr
Wispr is pioneering a voice interface intended for daily use by a billion people. Their flagship product, Flow, enables users to speak instead of type on computers or phones, converting spoken words into refined text ready for sending. The product has rapidly scaled from $2 million to $50 million in annual recurring revenue within a year, serving millions of users and thousands of enterprise clients. The team remains small, allowing each member significant influence over product development.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Product Designer to join our expanding design team tasked with shaping the future of human-computer voice interaction. This role involves creating innovative voice-driven product experiences, collaborating directly with founders, product leads, and engineers, and designing new product elements from the ground up for a vast user base.
Responsibilities
- Create brand new product interfaces with no existing comparisons.
- Shift seamlessly between broad systems thinking—such as organizing information, modeling interactions, addressing edge cases, and feature integration—and finely detailed visual design principles including typography, motion, and nuanced aesthetics.
- Rapidly prototype to explore and resolve new interaction challenges.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of the company’s design system as the product range grows from single to multiple offerings to maintain high quality.
- Engage with users to deeply understand how Flow fits into their workflows.
- Implement minor to moderate code changes leveraging AI tools and engineering support.
Qualifications
- Experience working in startup environments, founding teams, design agencies, or as a freelance designer.
- An outstanding design portfolio demonstrating strong aesthetic judgment.
- Proven success in designing innovative products or features that lack established references—zero-to-one product development or creation of new interaction paradigms.
- Capability in both systemic design thinking and detailed visual design.
- Familiarity with enterprise client needs or mobile/device interfaces.
- Creativity combined with meticulous attention to detail and clear reasoning.
Work Setting and Logistics
Approximately 60% of the team is located in San Francisco, with the remainder remote, primarily within the US. SF-based employees typically work onsite most days because in-person collaboration is considered optimal. Remote team members are flown to San Francisco three to four times monthly to coincide with overlapping team weeks; travel expenses are covered.
Visa sponsorship is available for several categories, including H1B, O1, EB1, L1, STEM OPT, and others, with an immigration law firm assisting to facilitate the process. Offers are made with efforts to sponsor where applicable.
Employee Benefits
- Equity with favorable employee terms such as early and extended exercise options, combining ISOs and RSUs.
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance covering the full premium for employees and 75% for dependents under Anthem Blue Cross Gold PPO.
- 401(k) plan with up to a 4% company match.
- Generous parental leave: 16 weeks for birthing parents and 12 weeks for non-birthing parents.
- Flexible vacation policies and paid company holidays.
- Office perks including meals, commuter benefits, and relocation support for those moving to San Francisco.
- High-performance hardware provided, including laptop, monitor, and microphone optimized for quiet recording.
- Regular social events and company off-sites to foster team connection.
Inclusion Commitment
We encourage applications from candidates who may not meet every qualification fully. Recognizing the impact of imposter syndrome particularly among underrepresented groups, we welcome diverse perspectives essential to designing human-AI interactions. Our recruitment process is committed to fairness and accessibility; candidates requiring accommodations should communicate those needs.
Compensation
The salary range for this position spans $160,000 to $250,000 annually.
