Prosecutor

Overview

This position involves delivering expert prosecution services and providing legal counsel to Queensland Police Service members regarding cases before the Magistrates, Children's, and Coroners Courts. The role supports police matters within the Mackay Magistrates Court District and also covers the Magistrates Court at Sarina, with additional responsibilities in Bowen and Proserpine through a satellite office linked to the Mackay Police Prosecution Corps. This position offers extensive exposure to various criminal matters before the Magistrates Courts, allowing the prosecutor to build comprehensive legal expertise.

Primary Responsibilities

• Deliver prosecution services for the designated jurisdiction.
• Act as a representative for the Service and its members in legal proceedings before Magistrates, Children's, and Coroners Courts.
• Offer legal advice related to court procedures and processes within the assigned area.
• Oversee the preparation and quality of police briefs of evidence to ensure standards are met.
• Collaborate, negotiate, and maintain relationships with Queensland Police Service personnel, legal professionals, government entities, and community groups to support effective policing outcomes.
• Recognize and analyze environmental factors impacting the legal work area and contribute to the development of legal research, arguments, opinions, submissions, and advice.
• Maintain exemplary standards of professional conduct and performance in daily duties.

Role Requirements

• Must be admitted, immediately eligible for admission, or qualified to practice law in Queensland.

Additional Information
