Job Overview

The role of Psychologist in Developmental Pediatrics requires providing expert psychological evaluations, behavioral assessments, and interventions for pediatric patients with neurodevelopmental disorders within an outpatient clinical environment. This specialist is responsible for delivering thorough psychological and neuropsychological testing, followed by the design and execution of tailored psychological treatment plans. Collaboration and consultation with a multidisciplinary team are essential components of the position.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed reports from psychological and behavioral assessments.
• Review educational and medical documents to enhance case understanding.
• Engage with educational institutions and staff when necessary, with parental consent.
• Gain knowledge of Qatar's educational, healthcare systems, and community resources to advise families on educational placement and therapeutic interventions based on diagnostic outcomes.
• Deliver evidence-based psychological interventions and parent counseling targeting behavioral management of children with neurodevelopmental issues.
• Implement psychological treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for disorders including Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD, addressing co-occurring conditions like anxiety.
• Conduct group therapies, including social skills training for children with Autism and educational programs for their parents.
• Obtain or pursue certification in play-based and social-interaction-focused therapies (e.g., DIRFloortime®) for neurodevelopmentally challenged children and adolescents.
• Provide specialized psychological consultation within a multidisciplinary team consisting of physicians, therapists, and nursing staff to support diagnosis and care plans.
• Participate in ongoing professional development through literature review, peer discussions, and conferences related to clinical and developmental psychology.
• Offer clinical supervision to students, trainees, and junior professionals to foster skill development.
• Deliver culturally sensitive psychological services tailored to diverse ethnic, linguistic, and religious backgrounds.

Qualifications & Experience

• Doctoral qualification (PhD, PsyD, or DClinPsych) in Clinical Psychology.
• A minimum of three years supervised clinical training or 4000 hours of supervised practice as part of pre- and postdoctoral education.
• At least five years practicing as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, with a minimum of three years engaged in neurodevelopmental disorders among children.
• Certification and experience in administering diagnostic instruments such as ADOS-2, ADI-R, and CARS-2.
