QC Inspector Electrical

Role Overview

Airswift, a global workforce solutions provider in the energy, process, and infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Quality Control Inspector specializing in Electrical systems for a contract position in Qatar with a leading Oil & Gas company. This role involves ensuring compliance with quality standards in electrical and instrumentation construction and commissioning activities within the Oil & Gas and petrochemical environment.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possess a degree or diploma in Electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation Engineering.
• Extensive Quality Control experience in multi-disciplinary construction and commissioning contexts.
• Formal Quality Control training and affiliation with a recognized professional or chartered institution is an advantage.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience, preferably with exposure to the GCC region.
• Thorough knowledge of QC requirements, testing, installation, and commissioning procedures for electrical and instrumentation equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply the organization's management system principles to quality control activities.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols for self and others during project implementation.
• Support environmental protection and pollution prevention initiatives throughout project execution.
• Manage inspection and testing schedules on behalf of the client or project management.
• Review project-specific inspection documentation thoroughly to guarantee contract compliance.
• Maintain awareness of international standards and codes such as QCS, NEC, IEC, IEEE, and NFPA 70.
• Implement consistent quality inspection processes during construction, supplier engagements, and subcontractor activities to meet project specifications.
• Document inspection, testing, and surveillance outcomes in line with the Project Quality Plan and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
• Communicate proactively with contractors, third-party vendors, and end-users.
• Ensure calibration and proper maintenance of all measurement and testing tools.
• Guide construction teams in preparing quality documentation including method statements, work procedures, and inspection/test records.
• Identify non-conformances and assist in corrective and preventive action plans.
• Perform technical inspections for Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) on major electrical components such as transformers, MV/LV switchgear, cables, MCCBs, PLC systems, and control panels.
• Collaborate with field supervisors and contractors to coordinate testing activities effectively.
• Oversee quality control activities for electrical and instrumentation work onsite, including verifying compliance with approved drawings and specifications and reviewing red-line markups.
• Inspect material receipt and verify delivery documents against purchase orders and specifications, rejecting non-compliant materials.
• Support quality engineers by reviewing routine test reports and inspection records for adherence to standards.
• Monitor contractor workmanship related to substation grounding systems, ground resistance, soil resistivity, and step voltage measurements.
• Perform unplanned inspections and verify that all quality records are properly prepared and archived.
• Initiate and follow up on Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), monitoring closure and trending to improve contractor performance.
