Position Summary
The Quality Control Analyst – Originations plays a crucial role in auditing loan contracts to verify compliance with internal policies, as well as state and federal regulations. This position involves detecting errors, omissions, and signs of potential fraud in the loan funding process.
Key Responsibilities
- Thoroughly review completed loan contract documents to ensure accuracy of data entries including personal information and loan contract details.
- Analyze loan applications in coordination with credit and funding teams to verify adherence to company credit policies and federal laws such as ECOA, Fair Lending, CRA, FCRA.
- Communicate discrepancies to the loan processing team for resolution prior to loan booking.
- Apply knowledge of products and procedures to resolve issues following established quality control guidelines.
- Accurately and promptly record quality-related information for reporting and tracking.
- Propose enhancements for process improvements.
- Identify red flags in credit-related documents like credit reports and paystubs.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of auto financing policies and procedures.
- Complete additional projects and clerical tasks assigned by Quality Control management.
- Uphold confidentiality when handling sensitive personal consumer information.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
Qualifications and Competencies
- A minimum of one year of relevant experience in auto dealership or auto finance environments is required.
- High school diploma or GED completion is mandatory.
- Strong familiarity with federal credit and lending regulations.
- Ability to perform calculations involving discounts, interest rates, commissions, percentages, and geometric figures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills capable of working autonomously and managing multiple projects.
- Proficiency with loan processing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Critical thinking skills to make informed decisions beyond standard policy guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision while also supporting team efforts.
Additional Information
- Overtime work is occasionally required as business needs dictate.
- Travel requirements range up to 10%, depending on business demands.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The role requires regular sitting, manual dexterity, reaching, speaking, and hearing. Occasionally, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be necessary. Lifting up to 10 pounds is occasionally required. Close vision is essential. The work environment is generally moderate in noise level.
Work Schedule and Location
This is a hybrid position based in Houston, TX. Candidates must live within commuting distance and have reliable transportation. Work hours generally fall between 8 AM and 7 PM Monday through Friday, with weekend availability as needed.
