Role Purpose

The Quality Engineer ensures the robustness, availability, and dependability of production platforms and applications by planning and executing tests and developing automated testing tools.

Key Responsibilities

Devote approximately 80% of time to automation and 20% to manual exploratory testing.
Collaborate with Product Owners and developers to align testing with requirements.
Design, develop, test, and debug sophisticated software solutions.
Create and maintain automated test suites for team-developed features.
Guide the team towards simple, testable software designs.
Demonstrate solid understanding of software development practices.
Assist in onboarding and training new and junior team members.
Engage in risk analysis and mitigation activities.
Participate actively in project and team meetings including sprint reviews, retrospectives, and planning sessions.
Work closely with developers to detect defects early through feature and fix walkthroughs.
Focus efforts on achieving sprint objectives.
Identify and report defects encountered during testing following established protocols.
Support the setup and upkeep of test environments.
Contribute to documentation for software testing and build a knowledge base.
Influence testability considerations during sprint planning with knowledge of testing tools and frameworks.
Collaborate with senior team members to broaden technical and product expertise.
Identify training needs and pursue relevant learning opportunities.

Candidate Profile

Between 2 to 5 years of experience coding within an application development context.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a relevant tertiary qualification.
ISTQB certification is required.
Proficiency in coding and experience using test automation tools.
Strong problem identification and analytical skills.
Good understanding of the product and business context behind the applications tested.
