Research Analyst - Data & Analytics

Role Overview

A leading global technology company is seeking a Research Analyst for its Government & Social Impact team for an 11-month contract with possible extension or conversion. This role centers around analyzing substantial government and political datasets while collaborating with various internal teams to enhance data-driven decision processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Examine, analyze, and curate extensive government and political data collections.
• Extract insights and offer actionable recommendations based on analyzed metrics and emerging trends.
• Utilize Excel, SQL, and Python for data manipulation and interpretation tasks.
• Query SQL databases to facilitate effective analysis and decision-making.
• Conduct quality assurance to verify completeness and accuracy of data.
• Perform desk research related to governments, political institutions, and elections.
• Assist with data provisioning for upcoming European elections.
• Maintain datasets and relevant workbooks rigorously.
• Input and manage data within CRM platforms.
• Engage with stakeholders to review data findings and support strategic initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to test software systems, updates, and data pipelines.
• Monitor data flows to detect anomalies or quality concerns.
• Investigate root causes of data issues and suggest improvements in processes and products.
• Track and analyze operational metrics to identify optimization opportunities.
• Contribute to developing and validating new automated and AI-driven processes within the team.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Between 2 and 4+ years of professional experience in roles involving data analytics, data operations, technical audits, engineering, or related fields.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and strong capabilities in data analysis.
• Practical experience in accessing and querying SQL databases.
• Hands-on use of analytical tools such as SQL, Python, and Excel.
• Adeptness at interpreting complex datasets and translating them into clear, practical conclusions.
• Experience in data validation, reviewing reports, dashboards, or operational metrics for accuracy.
• Exceptional communication skills, both in writing and verbally.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a systematic approach to ensuring data quality.
• Capability to work autonomously and quickly adapt to new procedures.
• Comfortable operating within a dynamic, fast-paced tech environment.

Preferred Experience

• Background in testing technical systems or data pipelines.
• Familiarity with Python, R, or other scripting languages.
• Experience developing or managing data pipelines.
• Prior work in a large technology enterprise.
• Exposure to data-centric roles in government or public-sector domains.
• Understanding of European political systems, elections, and related datasets.
• A bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Government, Engineering, or a similar discipline.
