Roller Compactor Operator

Role Overview

Gold and Minerals Ltd is seeking a proficient Roller Compactor Operator with a minimum of 3 years of relevant field experience to operate 15-ton tandem or single-drum roller compactors. This position, located in Qal‘at Bīshah, 'Asir, Saudi Arabia, involves ensuring effective soil and asphalt compaction, while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate 15-ton roller compactors, either tandem or single-drum, to meet compaction requirements.
• Conduct thorough pre-shift equipment checks and routine maintenance, promptly reporting any mechanical issues.
• Monitor engine gauges, temperature indicators, and hydraulic systems, adjusting controls to maintain the correct compaction levels.
• Follow detailed project plans and comply with compaction specifications and quality assurance/control protocols.
• Maintain a tidy and safe work environment, minimizing disruption to other teams and ensuring site safety.
• Document daily production output, maintenance activities, and safety observations, escalating any deviations to supervisors.
• Support the setup and dismantling of staging areas and coordinate activities with adjacent crews.

Required Qualifications

• At least 3 years of proven experience operating 15-ton roller compactors on construction projects.
• Possess valid operator certification or license as specified by local regulations.
• Comprehensive knowledge of soil and asphalt compaction techniques.
• Strong understanding and adherence to safety protocols such as the use of personal protective equipment, hazard assessments, and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Able to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and QA/QC documents.
• Effective communication skills, reliability, and teamwork orientation.
• Physical capability to perform repetitive tasks, handle equipment accessories, and work in various weather conditions.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with diverse soil types and pavement materials.
• Basic troubleshooting abilities and capability to perform minor on-site maintenance.
