Role Summary

As a Senior Analytics Engineer, you will translate complex data inquiries into reliable, production-ready data solutions. You will work extensively with Databricks and Power BI to architect, maintain, and advance data models and governance practices crucial for the Legal OS platform’s success.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the complete lifecycle of data requests, from initial stakeholder engagement through delivering operational data products.
• Ensure the precision and dependability of deployed data assets, maintaining responsibility beyond initial delivery.
• Proactively identify and mitigate risks or bottlenecks affecting downstream processes.
• Iterate on data products post-launch to sustain and enhance performance.
• Design and implement scalable, reusable, and efficient data models that underpin reporting and analytics across Databricks and Power BI.
• Document data architectures, transformations, and data lineage clearly to facilitate team comprehension and collaboration.
• Engage directly with customers, product managers, and internal teams to translate business needs into actionable data specs.
• Communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Maintain rigorous data quality through automated testing and governance procedures such as data classification, tagging, and dictionary upkeep.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams within an Agile framework to align project delivery with organizational goals.

Desired Skills and Experience

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in data analytics.
• Proficient in Azure cloud services, Databricks environment, and Power BI tools.
• Strong grasp of contemporary data lake architectures.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL and Python along with expertise in data modeling and transformation practices.
• Experience with GitHub operations including CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows.
• Proven ability in drafting data requirements and collaborating closely with varied stakeholders to create data products.
• Competence in developing and maintaining automated tests ensuring data reliability.
• Familiar with data governance best practices including classification and metadata management.
• Experience working in Agile developments with an emphasis on iterative progress and continual enhancement.
• Self-motivated with strong initiative and the ability to independently drive projects forward.
• Experience in B2B SaaS product environments is advantageous.

Location and Work Arrangement

Preferred locations include Tauranga, Auckland, or Wellington in New Zealand, however, other NZ locations will be considered for the ideal candidate. This is a full-time remote role.
