Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will contribute directly to production, including legacy system modernization, by leveraging agentic workflows within a team shaping TOPdesk's engineering operating model. Your primary focus will be on enhancing and evolving the Knowledge Base component of TOPdesk's service management platform, affecting millions of daily users. Your work will span front-end interfaces, backend performance, and overall system reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and enhance the Knowledge Base, covering UI and backend systems.
• Deliver legacy modernization and product enhancements through agentic workflows.
• Develop shared prompt and agent libraries for organization-wide use.
• Frame and break down problems, orchestrate agent workflows, and verify deliverables.
• Create new agentic product features, modernizing legacy Java/MS SQL platforms using TypeScript, Vue, and Azure.
• Write detailed implementation briefs and acceptance criteria before deploying agents.
• Aggressively manage context, including files and constraints, employing CLAUDE.md conventions and tools to handle complex multi-agent processes.
• Design and execute verification strategies such as tests, runtime checks, migration validation, observability, and rollback plans, along with automated regression evaluations.
• Carefully handle agent permissions, secrets, dependencies, and keep agent-generated changes manageable and reviewable with evidence.
• Critically assess agent-generated outputs for architectural soundness, safety, simplicity, and provide code reviews. You are accountable for the final results.
• Contribute reusable patterns, subagents, and evaluation scripts to shared organizational libraries.
• Provide coaching and collaborate closely with teammates to elevate collective engineering practices.

Technical Environment

• Primary engineering environment: Claude Code with defined constraints and governance, emphasizing human accountability alongside AI agent work.
• Legacy stack includes Java, MS SQL, and heritage architecture undergoing decomposition.
• Modern stack comprises TypeScript, Vue, Postgres, Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform-managed infrastructure within cloud-native and service-oriented architecture.
• Utilizes subagents, MCP tool integrations, multi-agent workflows, shared prompt, agent, and evaluation libraries.

Success Indicators in First Year

• Deployment of significant product and modernization features through agentic workflows.
• Measurable improvements in development cycle time, lead time, and defect rates.
• Contributions of reusable components and evaluation tools to company-wide libraries.
• Positive impact on peer engineers’ efficiency and code quality through personal working methods.

Required Qualifications

• Experienced production engineer with daily hands-on agentic delivery expertise (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Aider).
• Proficiency in at least one technology among TypeScript/Vue, Java, Postgres, Azure-hosted environments, or Terraform.
• Strong independent software engineering judgement including testing acumen, operational awareness, and ability to identify flawed or risky agent outputs.
• Adept at handling ambiguous situations and navigating legacy codebases with clear written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience modernizing or decomposing legacy platforms in production environments.
• Creation and sharing of reusable prompts, subagents, evaluations, or adherence to CLAUDE.md conventions within teams.
• Hands-on experience with MCP integrations or multi-agent workflows beyond single editor sessions.
• Broad expertise across multiple tech stacks rather than specialization in just one.
