Social Media Coordinator

About the Role

Real Salt Lake and its affiliated teams, Utah Royals FC, Real Monarchs, and the RSL Academy, share a commitment to excellence through collaboration and growth. They seek a Social Media Coordinator who is enthusiastic about soccer and skilled in digital content creation to enhance fan interaction and promote the Club's narrative across its online platforms. The position is based primarily in Sandy, Utah at the Larry H. Miller Tower and requires active participation at matches, training sessions, community events, and related functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement the Club's social media plan across diverse digital platforms to increase audience size, fan engagement, and boost brand recognition.
• Oversee and coordinate the Club’s social media content calendar, harmonizing planned campaigns with dynamic, real-time content opportunities.
• Capture, edit, and disseminate multimedia content including photos, videos, and written posts from games, training, and community engagements, focusing on short-form, platform-native videos.
• Deliver in-depth, engaging live coverage of matchdays with stories before, during, and after events.
• Keep abreast of social media trends and fan interactions to spot opportunities for innovative and timely content.
• Collaborate with internal teams such as Marketing, Communication, Creative, Soccer Operations, and Corporate Partnerships to execute campaigns and fulfill sponsored digital requirements.
• Manage the Club’s online community by engaging with fans, maintaining brand voice, and monitoring social media platforms actively.
• Analyze social media metrics and audience insights to guide content improvements, evaluate campaign impact, and suggest strategic enhancements.
• Mentor and supervise social media interns to ensure consistent and quality delivery of daily social media activities.
• Support broader digital marketing efforts, content creation, and other Club initiatives as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, Sports Management, or an equivalent background.
• Between one to three years of professional experience in social media, including internships or freelance work.
• Proven capability in producing engaging, native content across multiple social platforms.
• Deep understanding of social algorithms, engagement metrics, and best practices for various platforms.
• Experience in creating mobile-first, short-format video content.
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud tools, notably Premiere Pro and Photoshop, along with mobile editing apps like CapCut.
• Strong written communication and keen attention to detail in copyediting.
• Skills in interpreting social media analytics for data-driven content strategy enhancements.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet multiple deadlines in a dynamic, event-driven environment.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel during the MLS season as required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in professional sports, collegiate athletics, entertainment, or live event settings.
• Familiarity with MLS, MLS NEXT Pro, MLS NEXT, and the North American soccer landscape.
• Use of social media management tools such as Sprout Social, Emplifi, Later, or Hootsuite.
• Knowledge of Adobe Lightroom and After Effects.
• Background in sports photography and mobile content production.
• Experience collaborating directly with athletes, coaches, or public figures.
• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is advantageous.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The role involves frequent movement including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and occasional climbing while capturing content at various locations. The incumbent must be capable of handling equipment up to 25 pounds and functioning both indoors and outdoors under varied weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, or snow. Evening, weekend, holiday work, and attendance at away matches and events with possible travel are required. Reasonable accommodations will be provided as necessary for disabilities.
