Store Driver

Role overview

This full-time, on-site Store Driver position in Whitby, Ontario supports store operations and delivery service for professional customers. The role combines driving, customer interaction, inventory handling, and light store maintenance. It is a newly created role rather than coverage for an existing vacancy.

What you will do

• Collect, prepare, and deliver auto parts to professional customers in a safe and timely manner.
• Retrieve returned items and core parts from customers.
• Distribute weekly and monthly sales flyers while highlighting active promotions and loyalty programs.
• Collect payment on credit accounts each day.
• Develop strong working relationships with MainStreet and National Pro customers and share delivery-based customer insights with the CPP.
• Support upselling and cross-selling efforts to help raise average transaction value.
• Keep the store clean and organized, including floors, bathrooms, front-facing displays, dusting, and the parking lot.
• Handle general stocking tasks such as truck stocking, back stock organization, and cycle counts.
• Stay current on inventory and new products to better assist sales efforts.
• Greet walk-in customers, learn what they need, and suggest the right parts or services.
• Take on other duties as required.

Skills and job requirements

• Ability to speak and write in English; Spanish is considered an asset.
• Strong communication skills for working with customers, peers, and leadership.
• Ability to read safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance documents, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals.
• Comfort with basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Willingness to work a variety of days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
• Confidence in speaking with customers and promoting products.
• Interest in learning about new products and sales techniques.
• Previous automotive parts experience is preferred.
• A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Physical demands and work environment

This role is primarily performed while walking or standing. It requires regular use of hands and fingers, reaching, climbing or balancing, and bending, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The position involves frequent lifting or moving of items up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds with assistance. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work is mostly indoors, but there may be occasional outdoor exposure to weather when performing tasks such as installing batteries and wiper blades. The role can also involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, elevated areas, toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical shock hazards, explosives, and vibration. The usual noise level is moderate.

Compensation and benefits

The expected pay range for a new team member is CAD 17.60 to CAD 20.70 per hour. The final offer may depend on location, retail experience, automotive knowledge, education, leadership experience, other relevant skills, and shift differential where applicable.
