Job Purpose

The Supervisor in Integrated Land and Hold Baggage Screening (ILHBS) is tasked with ensuring thorough, secure baggage screening compliant with regulatory standards. The role involves operating screening equipment, accurately detecting prohibited items or security threats, documenting results, collaborating with security teams, and managing passenger interactions to uphold security excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Complete all regulatory and mandatory security trainings successfully.
Operate X-ray Baggage Inspection System (X-BIS) for image analysis to detect weapons, ammunition, dangerous goods, or prohibited items.
Conduct manual physical inspections and Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) tests on flagged baggage.
Maintain high Threat Image Projection (TIP) scoring to demonstrate strong image interpretation skills.
Adhere strictly to BCAS and DGCA aviation security guidelines during baggage screening operations.
Accurately document screening findings and maintain records to satisfy audit and compliance requirements.
Perform routine pre-operation checks and upkeep of screening equipment including X-BIS, ETD, CT-EDS to ensure readiness.
Report any equipment malfunction promptly and assist in maintaining operational logs.
Coordinate and collaborate closely with CISF, airline staff, and other security stakeholders during baggage inspections and suspicious item handling.
Provide timely updates to supervisors on operational progress or issues requiring escalation.
Complete baggage screening efficiently without compromising thoroughness to prevent delays.
Consistently demonstrate professionalism, discipline, and positive workplace conduct aligning with organizational norms.

Key Stakeholders

Internal: CSO, Lead Avsec Audit & Compliance, Pass Section, Lead/Duty Manager/Sr Screener ILHBS, Terminal Operations, IT, HR, Compliance teams, Airport Operations and Customer Service Departments.
External: TSA, Aircraft Operators, Airport Authorities, Passengers, ASG, BCAS, Local Police, Service Providers, Law Enforcement Agencies, Regulatory Bodies, Industry Associations.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Required certification: TSA certification.
Preferred certifications: BCAS AVSEC basic course clearance, BCAS standalone/inline screener certification, DGCA DGR CAT 12 certification from approved training centers.
NCC "C" or "B" certificate holders are favored candidates.
Experience: Fresh graduates or candidates with 1-2 years in security screening, ideally in airport environments.
Proficient in operating screening equipment and applying security procedures.

Physical Requirements

Vision: Better or equal to 20/60 in both eyes without corrective lenses, or 20/20 in one eye and 20/30 in the other with glasses/contact lenses; must have adequate color perception.
Hearing: Hearing loss should be less than 30 dB below 2000 Hz frequencies as per audiogram testing.
Speech: Must communicate clearly and effectively orally.
Physical Agility: Free from any major impediments affecting crisis communication speed.
Olfaction: Ability to detect odors relevant to security tasks.
Appearance & Conduct: Must maintain high civility, professional appearance, sobriety, and provide courteous service to the public.
