About the Role

The Talent Lead at Santa Maria Hostel plays a pivotal role in managing the organization's recruitment and onboarding efforts by attracting, selecting, and hiring qualified candidates. This individual will oversee end-to-end recruitment processes, collaborate closely with hiring managers, and contribute to successful employee integration and engagement initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the complete recruitment lifecycle for both exempt and non-exempt roles.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to assess staffing requirements and develop effective recruiting strategies.
  • Identify potential candidates using job boards, social media platforms, professional networks, referrals, and partnerships within the community.
  • Perform resume screening, conduct phone interviews, schedule and administer in-person interviews, and guide hiring decisions.
  • Maintain accurate records within the applicant tracking system (ATS) and track recruitment metrics diligently.
  • Generate and update organization-wide vacancy reports, dashboards, and key recruitment statistics such as time-to-fill, vacancy rates, and candidate pipelines to inform leadership.
  • Organize and manage hiring events including job fairs, open interviews, and other recruitment initiatives targeting high-volume and challenging vacancies.
  • Manage pre-employment procedures like background and reference checks, employment verifications.
  • Administer onboarding and orientation sessions for new hires as necessary.
  • Ensure all employment documentation, including I-9 verifications and compliance paperwork, are completed and maintained confidentially.
  • Partner with managers to foster a positive onboarding atmosphere that encourages employee engagement and retention.
  • Support HR compliance efforts and audit processes when required.
  • Enhance employer branding and recruitment marketing by representing the organization at career fairs, networking and community outreach events, and cultivating partnerships with colleges and workforce agencies.
  • Propose and implement improvements to recruitment and onboarding workflows to optimize candidate and new hire experiences.
  • Build diverse candidate pipelines through ongoing collaboration with community organizations such as recovery and workforce agencies.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Expertise in talent acquisition and full-cycle recruitment management.
  • Proficiency in candidate sourcing and screening techniques.
  • Strong interviewing and selection acumen.
  • Experience managing employee onboarding and orientation programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline; or equivalent professional experience.

  • Experience recruiting for various departments and managing multiple locations.

Certifications

Must have current CPR certification or be capable of obtaining it during the orientation period. Additionally, successful completion of Mental Health First Aid, ANE, and PIAB training within the orientation timeframe is required.

Work Environment and Schedule

This role is based on-site at the Houston, TX location, operating Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. The workplace maintains a tobacco-free policy.
