Technician - Painter

Job Overview

The role involves carrying out both new and maintenance painting tasks on residential and commercial properties, ensuring all activities comply with relevant building codes and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute assigned duties as directed by the supervisor or Engineer In-Charge, including effective collaboration with team members.
• Review and fully understand task requirements, work priorities, and safety factors with the Engineer-in-Charge before commencing work.
• Work from blueprints, plans, specifications, and drawings following building codes, safety standards, and approved trade practices.
• Perform scheduled painting jobs, ensuring proper use and return of tools as instructed.
• Inspect surfaces for defects, necessary repairs, and compliance with safety codes.
• Apply paint, varnish, and suitable finishes to interior and exterior surfaces, balancing practical and aesthetic considerations.
• Prepare work areas by erecting scaffolding and protecting fixtures.
• Prepare surfaces through scraping, sanding, removing old paint, and filling cracks or holes.
• Mix paint and materials to achieve the required colors and textures.
• Coordinate the procurement of painting materials from approved suppliers.
• Provide regular progress updates and report any issues promptly to the Engineer-in-Charge.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization during and after tasks.
• Manage safety by implementing all required precautions and using appropriate protective gear such as helmets, gloves, safety shoes, and glasses.
• Ensure proper lighting and access during maintenance work and inspections.
• Provide internal customer service by supporting team members and other departments involved in maintenance and construction projects.
• Represent technical professionalism positively to company clients and external personnel.
• Conserve costs by minimizing material waste and avoiding repeated repairs or damage during maintenance.

• Experience with commercial or construction painting methods.
• Proficiency in using tools such as brushes and caulking guns.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, and provide accurate updates.
• Skill in prioritizing and logically organizing tasks.

• Willingness to work shifts round the clock, including long hours.

Experience Required

A minimum of 1 to 2 years of relevant technical experience in engineering, construction, or maintenance environments is mandatory.
