Role Summary

We are seeking a User Research Consultant to execute research that informs the design of user-centered services. This role involves close collaboration with other design professionals—including Service Designers, Content Designers, and Interaction Designers—to address complex challenges faced by clients. Adhering to Opencast's standards related to quality, environmental, and information security policies, as well as client-specific procedures, will be essential.

Security Requirement

A current UK Security Clearance (SC) or eligibility to obtain this clearance is mandatory for permanent roles within the organization.

Key Responsibilities and Skills

• Choose appropriate research methodologies tailored to different phases of projects.
• Prepare necessary ethics and governance documents for research activities.
• Recruit diverse participants compliant with GDPR and Market Research Society guidelines.
• Analyze data to extract main themes, user requirements, personas, and feedback.
• Create clear and audience-specific research deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards.
• Function effectively within agile delivery teams.
• Plan own tasks to meet project goals and respectfully challenge decisions for improvement.
• Collaborate efficiently with colleagues, clients, and team members.

Leadership Consideration

Candidates with experience leading projects and mentoring junior researchers may qualify for the Senior User Researcher position.

Compensation and Benefits

The consultant salary ranges from £43,000 to £56,000 annually. Benefits include a competitive pension scheme, health cash plans, share options, discretionary bonuses, flexible working hours, 25 days of holiday per year, and a generous training budget. Work Location and Environment

Work locations include Opencast’s headquarters, various hub offices, client sites, and home-based settings. Travel is expected based on project requirements, client needs, and team considerations.
