About the Role
Backroads is looking for a Video Editor to turn raw travel footage into polished stories that inspire viewers. This position is centered on post-production rather than filming in the field. You will create short- and mid-length videos suited for social media, websites, YouTube, and paid ads, working at the intersection of storytelling, social media, and performance marketing. The role requires close coordination with internal teams to keep content aligned with brand standards, support marketing goals, and maintain an organized video archive that can be reused efficiently across channels.
Responsibilities
- Sort through large collections of footage from guests, trip leaders, and staff, then choose the strongest material for editing.
- Produce finished videos for social platforms, web use, YouTube, and advertising campaigns.
- Convert raw clips into refined outputs by handling sound cleanup, color adjustment, and stabilization.
- Create multiple edits tailored to different platforms from the same source material.
- Keep every video aligned with Backroads’ visual identity and brand tone.
- Deliver assets on time in the correct format for each channel.
- Organize and maintain the video library so content can be found and reused easily.
- Apply consistent rules for tagging and storing incoming footage and completed edits.
- Work with internal stakeholders and outside vendors when additional editing or production help is needed.
- Act as a contact point for questions related to video content and editing support.
- Offer light coaching to staff on capturing footage that is more usable in editing.
- Monitor project status in tools such as Jira and take part in weekly video production meetings.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience editing digital video in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong command of Adobe Premiere Pro; After Effects or motion graphics experience is an advantage.
- Ability to shape compelling narratives from existing footage.
- Experience creating content for social media, YouTube, websites, and paid media.
- Well-developed media organization and asset management skills.
- Comfort managing several projects at once while meeting tight deadlines independently.
- Clear written and spoken communication skills.
- Experience collaborating with marketing, social, or brand teams.
- Exposure to travel, outdoor, lifestyle, or sports content is preferred.
