Role Overview
Symali is looking for a Consultant focused on Workday Extend development. This role centers on creating custom applications, integrating them with Workday and external platforms, and supporting their deployment, testing, and ongoing improvement.
Development and Design
- Create tailored applications on the Workday Extend platform.
- Develop user interfaces, business rules, and workflow logic using Extend building blocks.
- Build integrations through Workday REST and SOAP APIs.
- Add custom capabilities to core Workday areas such as HCM, Payroll, Recruiting, and Finance.
Configuration and Implementation
- Set up Workday Extend applications in tenant environments.
- Use Workday Studio, EIB, and Core Connectors when needed.
- Implement rules, validations, and approval processes.
- Follow Workday security and data-access standards.
Integration and Data Handling
- Work with Workday data sources and business objects.
- Design app data structures and APIs for Extend solutions.
- Connect Extend applications with outside systems such as ServiceNow, ERP platforms, and other third-party tools.
Testing and Deployment
- Carry out unit tests and assist with UAT.
- Diagnose and fix issues in Extend applications.
- Move applications through sandbox, implementation, and production tenants.
Collaboration
- Work closely with HR functional teams, Payroll, and Finance stakeholders.
- Convert business needs into technical solutions.
- Advise teams on Extend best practices and technical approaches.
Support and Maintenance
- Track and improve existing Extend applications.
- Enhance performance and scalability where needed.
- Provide technical support along with documentation.
Required Skills and Experience
- Practical, hands-on experience with Workday Extend is essential.
- Strong understanding of Workday HCM and Finance data models.
- Working knowledge of Workday REST and SOAP APIs.
- Familiarity with Workday security framework.
- Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript for Extend logic.
- Comfort using JSON, XML, and web services integrations.
- Understanding of at least one Workday module such as HCM, Payroll, or Finance.
- Ability to translate business workflows into technical designs.
- Minimum 5 years of overall Workday experience, including 3+ years in Workday Extend.
- Previous exposure to Workday configuration or integrations is preferred.
- Building custom Extend applications is a strong plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Workday Extend certification, if available.
- Experience with Workday Studio.
- Exposure to agile development methods.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms and APIs.
- Background in HRIS or ERP environments.
