Assistant Dockmaster (Floating)

Role overview

The Assistant Dockmaster (Floating) supports the Dock Master in the smooth and safe day-to-day operation of docking and undocking activities. The role is based in Mesaieed, Al Wakrah, Qatar and focuses on vessel handling, floating dock operations, equipment readiness, documentation, and maintenance coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Support day-to-day docking and undocking activities and keep the logbook updated.
• Help coordinate quay-side vessel movement and shifting operations.
• Assist in managing the arrangement of docks and ship lift blocks.
• Follow preventive and breakdown maintenance plans closely and help ensure they are carried out by Milaha Ship Management.
• Make sure all equipment on board is properly maintained and remains fully functional.
• Assist in confirming that the floating dock is maintained and that class surveys are completed when due.
• Help conduct safety briefings and toolbox talks before dock operations, and maintain the related records.
• Support the training of mooring and dock maintenance teams so they can work to high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
• Maintain drawings and other technical documentation for ship lifts and floating docks in line with Milaha Ship Management requirements.
• Raise requests for spare parts and materials needed for repair and maintenance of the floating dock and ship lift.
• Assist with machinery installation work for both the ship lift and floating dock systems.

Requirements

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, a Technical Training School Diploma, or Naval Architecture qualification.
• At least 4 to 5 years of experience assisting in the operation of a floating dock and ship lift.
