About the Role
The Assistant Purchasing Manager will support the Purchasing Manager to ensure purchasing operations run smoothly, efficiently, and effectively, upholding integrity and strong commitment. The role involves planning, coordinating, supervising, and reviewing purchasing activities to meet departmental goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee procurement activities for timely and continuous acquisition of necessary materials and services for safe and efficient production operations.
- Build and nurture strong supplier relationships to secure optimal value considering cost, quality, delivery, and service aspects.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve purchasing issues and support operational needs effectively.
- Identify training requirements and implement development initiatives to enhance team members' skills and competencies.
- Monitor and guide team performance, promote coaching, and encourage a culture focused on continuous improvement and accountability.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory standards, and ethical procurement practices.
- Maintain and update the Approved Vendor List (AVL).
- Stay informed of market trends and relevant current affairs impacting the procurement functions.
- Act as an advisor on procurement matters including vendor qualification, delivery, sustainability, process improvements, and procurement guidelines.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Candidate Requirements
- Possess a Diploma or Degree with at least two years of relevant experience or training in the Hospitality or Engineering sector.
- Experience with SAP and Ariba procurement systems will be advantageous.
- Skilled in administrative tasks and contract management.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation abilities to effectively engage internal and external stakeholders.
