About Circuit and the Role
Circuit is committed to alleviating traffic congestion and minimizing environmental impact by deploying electric shuttles designed to make urban mobility smarter, easier, and enjoyable. We are pioneering the next generation with MiCa, a Level 4 autonomous shuttle. We seek innovative individuals to help launch and expand this advanced transportation technology.
Core Values
Our team is passionate about transforming transportation one trip at a time. Key qualities for this position include technical accuracy, situational alertness, and an unwavering priority on safety. We need people who are enthusiastic not only about customer interaction but also about the sophisticated hardware and software powering future transit.
Role Overview
In the Autonomous Vehicle Operator (AVO) role, you serve as the essential human control point in a self-driving shuttle. While MiCa operates autonomously on a fixed route in Mizner Park with five stops, your responsibilities involve continuous monitoring of the vehicle’s systems and readiness to intervene using a handheld interface. You will also engage with passengers, helping them understand and embrace autonomous technology safely and confidently.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive vehicle startups and software system checks similar to a pre-flight routine.
- Monitor live data and pedestrian activity attentively, using a controller to navigate complex scenarios when necessary.
- Serve as the communication link, educating and reassuring riders about autonomous transit.
- Complete rigorous training through Guident on remote monitoring and low-latency control software.
- Maintain the shuttle’s condition by ensuring battery charging, sensor cleanliness, and cabin readiness for all passengers.
Selection Process
- After passing initial screening, candidates undergo a paid, performance-based evaluation.
- The evaluation includes simulated driving, intervention tasks, and public interaction exercises.
- High-performing individuals receive active scheduling and may join a certified reserve pool for future opportunities or backup roles.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of three years of safe driving experience with a valid license and clean record.
- Strong comfort with computer interfaces, tablets, and adherence to detailed technical checklists.
- Experience with simulation technology, drone operation, or gaming skills involving precise handheld controller use is a strong advantage.
- Ability to multitask by processing screen information while observing real-world conditions.
- Capable of addressing software alerts calmly while interacting with passengers.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds; must meet all vehicle safety height and weight guidelines.
- Willingness to complete paid training, evaluation, and certification processes.
- Available to work shifts between 10:00 AM and 10:00 PM lasting four hours each.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience handling remote-controlled systems or simulators requiring quick responses.
- Background in hospitality, tourism, event management, or customer service roles.
- Demonstrated interest in autonomous and electric vehicles or emerging technologies.
What We Provide
- An hourly wage of $20 plus gratuities.
- Paid, specialized technical training.
- Direct exposure to the fast-growing autonomous vehicle industry.
- A flexible and enjoyable work environment, being the public face of cutting-edge transport technology.
Additional Information
This role focuses on close monitoring of autonomous vehicle operation alongside maintaining technology systems and ensuring a professional vehicle environment. Success correlates with pride in operational preparedness and excellent public interaction.
