About the Role
NX Group, part of the global Nippon Express Group headquartered in Tokyo, is a leading logistics provider specializing in air, ocean, road freight, warehousing, and supply chain solutions. With more than 73,000 employees worldwide in over 50 countries, we provide global reach with local expertise. We are currently expanding our sales team in London and the South of England and are seeking skilled Business Development Managers to drive growth and new client acquisitions across our logistics portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business prospects in air, sea, and road freight services to expand market share.
- Build and sustain a robust sales pipeline through proactive prospecting, strategic networking, and lead generation.
- Consistently meet or exceed sales targets and revenue objectives.
- Develop and present compelling sales proposals and presentations tailored to client needs.
- Negotiate pricing structures, contracts, and service agreements to secure profitable deals.
- Establish and nurture long-term relationships with key clients and decision-makers, acting as the primary contact for high-value accounts.
- Understand and address customer supply chain challenges, proposing customized logistics solutions that ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
- Stay informed of industry trends, competitors’ activities, and market conditions to identify new trade routes, verticals, and growth opportunities.
- Contribute insights toward the formulation of sales strategies and business plans.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams including operations, pricing, and customer service to deliver seamless service and facilitate smooth onboarding of new clients.
- Work with pricing teams to develop competitive freight solutions and manage quotations, tenders, RFQs, and RFPs in alignment with customer requirements and company profitability.
- Track sales activities and performance utilizing CRM systems such as Salesforce, maintaining accurate records for forecasts and client interactions.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking forums to build partnerships with carriers, agents, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales within air, sea, and road freight logistics, with a proven track record of success in business development. Experience engaging senior stakeholders and managing complex tenders is essential.
