As part of their mission, they operate a childcare program focused on catering to the developmental and emotional needs of children they serve.
Position Summary
The Childcare Program Manager will oversee all aspects of the organization's childcare services. This involves managing day-to-day operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, developing suitable curricula, supervising staff, and fostering a nurturing environment that supports children's overall growth and well-being. The ideal candidate should have a solid background in early childhood education, program administration, and experience working with vulnerable groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the childcare program to maintain a safe and developmentally appropriate setting aligned with organizational goals.
- Create and implement inclusive, culturally sensitive curricula that foster cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development among children.
- Recruit, train, oversee, and assess childcare personnel including teachers, assistants, and volunteers; provide continuous coaching and professional growth opportunities.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable local, state, and federal childcare laws and standards, conducting routine safety checks and addressing any issues promptly.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with parents and guardians, update them regularly on children's progress and program status, and provide family support as needed.
- Participate in formulating and overseeing the childcare program's budget, monitoring expenses, approving purchases, and collaborating with the development team to secure necessary funding.
- Keep comprehensive records on child enrollment, attendance, assessments, and program activities; prepare reports for leadership and funding agencies.
- Conduct periodic evaluations of program quality, child development outcomes, and parent satisfaction; suggest and implement enhancements accordingly.
- Provide crisis management support to children and families and ensure staff are trained in handling emergencies with proper protocols.
- Develop partnerships with community organizations and service providers to strengthen program offerings and opportunities.
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Social Work, or related discipline; Master’s preferred.
- At least five years of experience managing early childhood education programs or childcare services, preferably with vulnerable or low-income populations.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
- Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Competence in curriculum design and familiarity with child development best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with children, families, staff, and community partners.
- Experience with childcare management software and Microsoft Office tools.
- Thorough understanding of child development principles, relevant childcare laws, and challenges faced by low-income families.
- Personal qualities of compassion, patience, problem-solving aptitude, and proactive management style.
