About the Organization
The Museum of Science, located in Boston, MA, stands as one of the largest science centers globally and the most frequented cultural institution in New England. Serving nearly five million visitors annually, both onsite and through various educational platforms, the museum is a hub connecting academic institutions, industries, government, schools, and the public. Its mission is to kindle a lifelong passion for science and foster a world where science benefits everyone.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to advancing a vision of curriculum units tailored for Pre-K to 8th-grade educators and students, aligning with YES educational philosophies.
- Lead specific sections of a curriculum development project, including conceptualizing, drafting, and refining activities.
- Engage actively with educators, advisors, and afterschool facilitators to collect feedback for refining and innovating the curriculum content.
- Coordinate with external partners such as illustrators, editors, and translators to integrate components of YES units for both print and digital formats.
- Assist the team in authoring and editing professional educational and evaluation materials ensuring consistency with YES philosophy, branding, and standards.
- Develop comprehensive understanding of NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) and other pertinent cross-disciplinary educational standards guiding the curriculum work.
- Support outreach efforts by participating in workshops, teacher institutes, conferences, and statewide or national events to promote curriculum resources.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with educational standards, assessment tools, and pedagogical strategies essential for curriculum design.
- Experience in drafting and editing STEM curriculum materials for Pre-K through 8th grade educators.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with clarity and effectiveness.
- Innovative and creative mindset toward product and curriculum development.
- Detail-oriented with proven ability to manage multiple aspects of complex projects.
- Hands-on teaching experience within Pre-K to 8 classrooms.
Physical Requirements
- Possession of a valid driver's license and capacity for local travel related to classroom observations, outreach, and meetings; occasional travel nationally may be required.
- Ability to occasionally carry, set up, and move educational tools and supplies weighing up to 25 lbs, and to push or pull items up to 50 lbs.

Compensation
Annual salary between 60,000 and 70,000 USD.
