Role Overview

We are searching for a seasoned Data Scientist to be a part of an agile, high-performing engineering group. This role demands autonomy, where you will take full ownership of projects from defining the problem through to the deployment in production. You will collaborate closely with business partners to develop data-driven products, predictive algorithms, internal tools, and AI systems that facilitate strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Lead data science projects end-to-end by converting broad business questions into executable analyses, models, tools, and production workflows.
Develop and maintain production-level Python applications for data gathering, enhancement, scoring mechanisms, and AI-supported research incorporating various data sources.
Architect, train, test, and deploy predictive models with emphasis on quality feature engineering, validation, and maintaining high data integrity.
Create advanced SQL queries to generate dashboards, recurring and ad hoc reports, and perform data reconciliation tasks.
Process large and unstructured data sets into actionable insights to optimize investment strategies, business procedures, portfolio management, and organizational growth.
Work hand-in-hand with stakeholders to discover valuable opportunities, present insights effectively, and continuously refine tools based on user feedback.
Contribute to enhancing data infrastructure, automation processes, and analytical capabilities within the company.

Candidate Profile

Proven track record as a senior data scientist or analytics engineer independently delivering business solutions from conception through production.
Extensive proficiency in Python and SQL programming languages.
Experience operating across data notebooks, APIs, application development codebases, and contemporary business intelligence tools.
Deep expertise in applied machine learning including feature extraction, model assessment, handling missing values, preventing data leakage, calibrating models, interpreting results, and recognizing when simpler models suffice.
Strong background in data engineering, including pipeline construction, API integration, managing production workflows, and resolving data quality challenges.
Exceptional communication skills for conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Highly self-driven, with entrepreneurial spirit and strong ownership mentality.
Familiarity with state-of-the-art AI tools and large language models leveraged for enhancing research, analysis, automation, and overall productivity, applying critical judgment to outputs.
Candidates must either reside in New York City or be prepared to relocate.

Preferred Experience

Developing production data products or machine learning solutions utilized by customers or internal teams.
Maintaining active GitHub contributions, engaging in open-source projects, publishing scholarly work, or composing technical writings.
Applying data science methodologies in finance, venture capital, marketplaces, growth analytics, CRM, or operational data sets.
Creating AI-assisted research platforms, frameworks for evaluating large language models, or pipelines for structured data extraction.
Experience as an early technical employee or founder within fast-scaling startup environments.
Outstanding quantitative aptitude supported by academic research, competitive contests, Olympiads, or rigorous technical education.
