Role Purpose
The Demand Planner will manage all SAP APO-driven statistical forecasting and ensure data accuracy. This role involves constructing baseline forecast models to back the monthly Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) cycle and ownership of forecast accuracy. Collaboration with Demand Planning Business Partners to adjust historical data and maintain weekly forecasts mapped correctly to SKUs and locations are critical responsibilities.
Key Duties and Accountabilities
- Generate and maintain a rolling statistical demand forecast spanning at least 18 months using SAP APO software.
- Work proactively with Demand Managers and Business Partners to oversee statistical forecasts, identify deviations from trends, and maintain master data such as CVC creation and disaggregation factors.
- Analyze and correct outliers through detailed reports.
- Support scenario planning for promotions, innovations, and significant changes like duties or economic shifts driven by statistical analysis.
- Provide insightful reports and support stakeholders to maximize baseline forecast utilization.
- Engage in the S&OP and Integrated Business Planning (IBP) processes by aligning consensus forecasts and reviewing strategic projections against historical data.
- Partner with Business Teams to analyze forecast errors, undertake root cause analysis, and promote continuous improvement in forecast accuracy and bias.
- Continuously enhance forecasting models by testing new approaches, adopting best practices, and supporting system development.
Required Skills and Experience
- Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end supply chain planning including supply planning, distribution, inventory, procurement, logistics, and customer service.
- Strong competency in statistical forecasting methodologies and knowledge of their operational and financial impacts.
- Proven analytical skills combined with strong organizational and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills across verbal, written, and presentation formats.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
- Minimum 4 years' experience in demand or supply chain planning within the Consumer Packaged Goods sector preferred.
- Experience working with advanced planning software including SAP APO and Business Intelligence/Business Warehouse systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in supply chain management, mathematics, engineering, business, or related field.
- Certifications such as APICS CPIM or CSCP are advantageous.
