About the Position

We are seeking a seasoned Financial Controller to lead the company’s accounting functions and financial reporting. This role involves managing the transition from an outsourced accounting setup to a completely internal finance department. Reporting directly to the CFO, the successful candidate will oversee the General Ledger, bookkeeping activities, and ensure timely and accurate financial statements while developing standardized and scalable financial procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Assume full accountability for the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of the General Ledger and maintain the Chart of Accounts.
Lead the migration of accounting operations from outsourced providers to an internal team.
Manage monthly closing processes, reconciliations, and assure the accuracy of financial data.
Prepare and deliver monthly financial statements and management reports tailored for leadership review.
Analyze Profit & Loss statements to monitor financial performance across various business units.
Supervise accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice verification, payroll processing, expense reimbursements, and vendor payments.
Provide mentorship and supervision to the bookkeeping team.
Monitor cash flow and conduct bank reconciliations diligently.
Coordinate tax reporting activities including payroll, sales, and year-end taxes.
Ensure all accounting practices adhere to company policies and financial controls.
Maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with discretion.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Accountant with complete ownership of the General Ledger.
Proven capability in month-end close and financial reporting.
Practical knowledge of QuickBooks software.
Experience managing or supervising finance or bookkeeping teams.
Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and control mechanisms.
Strong ethical standards and ability to protect confidential financial matters professionally.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving aptitude.
Comfortable working autonomously in a fully remote environment.
Advanced proficiency in English (written and spoken) at C1/C2 level.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience leading transitions in accounting departments or implementing process improvements.
Familiarity with project accounting software such as BigTime or comparable platforms.
Background in industries like professional services, construction, architecture, engineering, or design firms.
Experience with luxury architecture, interior design, or upscale residential design firms is highly desirable.
CPA or other relevant accounting certifications are advantageous.

Additional Information

This is a full-time contractor role with a three-month trial period, starting immediately, with possibility for conversion to long-term employment based on performance and company needs.
The position is fully remote and requires working during US business hours.
Monthly compensation ranges from $2,000 to $4,000 USD.
Preference given to candidates with direct General Ledger management, QuickBooks expertise, and relevant industry experience in high-end design sectors.
